About ZenYogis

The ZenYogis Way

ZenYogis is on a mission to inspire joyful living and mindful movement in the next generation.

We help children and teens create harmony in body, mind and heart through playful movement, breath, stillness and self-awareness.

Rooted in yoga, tai chi philosophy and mindful practices, our classes guide young people to build a strong centre, balancing strength and softness, stillness and play.

Each session blends wisdom with fun, giving kids the tools to live with kindness, care, joy and freedom. We don’t just teach movement. We teach how to move through life with purpose, play and presence.

Our 4 Zen Hearts

At ZenYogis, values aren’t just something we talk about. They’re something we practice in every breath, every pose and every moment on the mat.

It’s not about the perfect pose. It’s about real-life skills that help young people feel capable, clear and centred.

ZenYogis blends yoga, tai chi philosophy, breathwork and playful practices to help them move with confidence, find calm focus and grow in self-understanding.

Every class is rooted in our core values: to be kind, caring, joyful and free — the Four Zen Hearts.

These aren’t just ideas, they’re life skills we practice:

* Kindness with humility

* Care with ability

* Joy with discipline

* Freedom with wisdom

We guide young people to grow into these qualities through consistent, embodied practice, creating harmony in their bodies, their minds and their hearts.

Our Story

ZenYogis began with a simple idea: what if movement could help kids feel more free, not just in their bodies, but in their hearts and minds too?

It started in a local early learning centre, with a small group of children, a yoga mat, and a whole lot of laughter. The response was instant, the kids loved it.

So did the families. So did the teacher. From those first playful sessions, ZenYogis has grown into a vibrant community offering weekly classes, holiday workshops, school incursions, and more. We've had the joy of watching students grow from kindy to high school, carrying with them the tools of mindfulness, movement, and emotional awareness every step of the way.

At our core, we're about sharing practices that create harmony, in body, mind, and heart. And that journey continues to unfold with every child who joins the mat.

Meet the Founder

ZenYogis grew from a personal journey of healing, movement, and rediscovery, one that started with a body full of tension, a busy mind, and a heart often stuck in worry.

For years, I worked in early childhood education, a job I loved. But behind the scenes, I was constantly battling physical pain, asthma, allergies, fatigue, and not really understanding much about my own body. I knew something had to change. I was curious about how the body works and why mine always felt tense, tired, or inflamed.

That curiosity led me into the world of yoga, movement, and eventually, deeper practices like tai chi philosophy and breathwork.

A friend suggested I try teaching yoga to kids. I gave it a go with a small group at the centre I worked in… and something just clicked. The children absolutely loved it. So did I. It was fun, playful, meaningful, and I could see how powerful these tools could be when shared at a young age.

It wasn’t a business idea, it was

something real that kept unfolding. I just followed the joy and kept showing up.

That spark led me to study yoga in Rishikesh, India, to deepen my understanding. When I returned, I started offering classes to families I’d connected with over the years. What began as a few kids and a handful of mats grew into something much bigger, a community of young people moving, breathing, playing, and learning how to care for themselves from the inside out.

ZenYogis began there, on borrowed mats in borrowed spaces, with a few curious kids and a whole lot of joy. It wasn’t a business idea, it was something real that kept unfolding. I just followed the joy and kept showing up.

And now, years later, I’ve had the privilege of seeing kids grow from kindy to high school with a consistent movement practice that supports their body, mind, and heart.

It’s now a thriving community with regular classes, workshops, school partnerships, and a beautiful team of teachers who share the same passion for movement and mindful living.

This journey continues to unfold, one breath, one child, one moment at a time. The learning never stops. And the vision continues to grow, with plans to share this joyful way of living and moving with a wider community, so the next generation can feel free, connected, and enjoy a life of unlimited possibilities.

Meet the Zen Team

Irene

Irene loves yoga and believes everyone should join in the fun. She’s been learning and practicing for many years, and has seen how yoga helps keep the body strong, the mind clear, and the heart kind.

Her passion is sharing these skills with children, helping them make healthy choices, manage life’s ups and downs, and live with vibrancy and self-awareness.

Irene hopes that every child who joins her classes will fall in love with yoga, just like she did, and feel inspired to carry their practice with them into adulthood.

Shane

Shane is a yoga, breathwork, and meditation teacher who loves seeing kids develop an appreciation for mindful movement and the ability to find calm.

After living with a condition called ankylosing spondylitis, Shane discovered how these practices could support his healing, and now lives symptom-free.

He knows that movement and relaxation are key to our wellbeing, and believes it’s a gift to offer kids those tools early in life, so they can grow with more awareness, balance, and calm.

She finds joy in watching their personalities shine through their yoga practice, as they connect to themselves and each other.

Marion

Marion has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and recently stepped into teaching, inspired by the personal growth and calm that yoga has brought into her life.

Her journey has taught her that yoga isn’t about perfecting poses, it’s about connection, self-awareness, and learning to listen to our bodies with kindness.

When teaching children, Marion’s goal is to create a safe and playful space where they can explore movement, breath, and stillness in a way that feels natural and fun.

In a world that often feels rushed and overstimulating,  she sees yoga as a way to pause, to reconnect, build confidence, and learn tools to manage emotions and energy with care.

Each of us brings something unique to the mat, but we’re united by one vision: to help the next generation live with more kindness, confidence, and joy.
